PayPal is New Money

One of the campaigns I’m proudest of to this day was our global rebrand of PayPal in 2016. Its the first pitch that I ever felt real ownership over why we won the business. Becoming the Global AOR for PayPal at CP+B was a big deal, and led to my partner and I leading the brand for 3 years.

We launched with a new global tagline, PayPal is New Money, on Super Bowl Sunday. Our message to the world was that PayPal was so much more than a checkout button on eBay. We were a new way of thinking about the global financial system; we were a way to help those underserved and underbanked. The greatest compliment we got was when someone took our spot, ripped it and changed it to say BitCoin is New Money. Years later, we’re still trying to democratize the global economy. And PayPal is still a company that wants to help break down those barriers.

BRAND CAMPAIGN (2016)

After our anthemic brand launch, we created campaigns for the next two years that focused on the product features and benefits of PayPal, using relatable slice of life moments. The below spots were trans-created for multiple markets including US, UK, AMEA and Australia.
